Doctors of army’s medical corps are yet to replace striking doctors in government hospitals of Balochistan as doctors and paramedical staff continued boycotting OPDs across the province, according to media reports.
Most of private clinics also remained closed in Quetta on Wednesday.
President PMA Balochistan Dr. Sultan Tareen has vowed to continue protests, and condemned police action against doctors, saying that over 80 of PMA doctors have been arrested.
In the wake of patients’ plights, Balochistan’s secretary health Asmat Ullah Kakar on Tuesday wrote a letter to Pakistan Army, seeking deployment of army’s medical corps doctors in government hospitals.
Army had assured deployment of at least 40 medics; however, the pledge is yet to be fulfilled after the passage of 24 hours.
Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has been protesting for over a month against kidnapping of Dr. Saeed from Quetta.
Amid doctors’ protests in Lahore and Peshawar in solidarity with their fellows in Quetta, medics continued to suspend services across Balochistan, including civil hospital Quetta and Bolan Medical Complex, multiplying the miseries of patients.
