Iranian Minister of Energy Majid Namjou has said that Iranian experts would construct a power plant soon on the Iranian border with Pakistan to export electricity to Pakistan and India, Iran’s IRNA reported.
He said the plan was under negotiations between the two countries’ officials and would be implemented upon a request made by the Pakistani president to his Iranian counterpart.
Pointing to the signing of a relevant agreement between both countries, Namjou said Iran would export 1,000MWs of electricity to Pakistan based on the agreement. He said Pakistan had also asked Iran to construct CGP and DG small power plants which would be built by MAPNA company once a consensus was reached.
The minister also expressed Iran’s readiness to construct another power plant with the capacity of 6,000MWs with Indian investment to export power to India based on his negotiations with his Indian counterpart.
“Some 4,000MWs of electricity to be generated would be consumed in Iran, the remaining 2,000MWs would be exported through under water cables to Pakistan and India,” Namjou added.
