IHC bench hearing Army Chief’s extension case completes its time

After its time completion, the bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) that was hearing the intra-court appeal filed against Army Chief’s extension has completed its time.
The judicial commission on Oct 22 recommended the parliamentary committee on judges’ appointment to confirm the service of IHC Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui and to give six months extension to the additional judge Justice Noorul Haq N. Qureshi, but the notifications have not been issued so far.
Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui and Justice Noorul Haq N. Qureshi took oaths as additional judges of the IHC on 21 Nov, 2011and their terms were completed on Nov 20, 2012.
The IHC registrar office on Tuesday cancelled the cause list of fixed cases, including an appeal filed against extension of chief of army staff (COAS) Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, which was fixed for hearing before a two-member bench comprising Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui and Justice Noorul Haq N. Qureshi on Nov 22, 2012.
The Chief Justice IHC is a competent authority who can now form the new bench for hearing of Army Chief’s extension case.
