With the resumption of compressed natural gas (CNG) after a three-day closure in Rawalpindi, domestic consumers faced problems due to low gas pressure.
Gas supply to CNG stations in the suburbs of Rawalpindi including Morgah, Adiyala Road, Muslim Town, Sadiqabad, Shah Khalid Colony, Fazal Town and Tench Bhatta resumed on Monday after a 72-hour suspension under the gas load management plan. Long queues of vehicles were witnessed outside filling stations waiting for their turn.
On the other hand, after the resumption of gas supply, residents in these areas faced low gas pressure in their homes. Citizens had to face problems in preparing meals and fulfilling other domestic needs.
Several tandoors located in residential areas also shut down due to the gas shortage.
Citizens expressed grave concerns over the gas crisis at the beginning of winters and were forced to use firewood to cook meals. They criticised the authorities for not providing enough gas and said that due to high prices they couldn’t afford using liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for domestic needs.
