Be it a skydive from Mount Everest or an open challenge to extremists, the government and people of Pakistan feel proud to present the real face of Pakistani women in personalities like Namira Salim, the first Pakistani in space and at the two Poles, and Malala Yousufzai, the girl who wanted to gain education against all odds.
Ambassador of Pakistan to UAE Jamil Ahmed Khan organized an event to pay tribute to these shining stars that represented women and the youth of Pakistan. While presenting a shield to Namira, Ambassador Khan said that both ladies had given a message of peace to the world and promoted the actual image of Pakistan, which was moderate and peaceful in all its forms.
Namira, besides being the first Pakistani astronaut (2006), held the distinction of being the first Pakistani at the North Pole (2007) and South Pole (2008) and the first Asian to skydive (tandem) over Mount Everest (2008).
Salim will also become the first Pakistani in space (2013) aboard Sir Richard Branson Virgin Galactic. Acknowledging these adventurous achievements in the field of sports, the president had presented a Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Medal of Excellence) to her in 2011. Malala Yousufzai, who had recently survived an assassination attempt, had shown through her diaries the eagerness of young girls, from backward areas of Pakistan, to study in schools. She would be considered for nomination of the Nobel Peace Prize.
Ambassador Khan further informed the audience that Malala had shown tremendous recovery due to her will power.
