The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) condemned Israel’s attack on Gaza and other Palestinian cities and called upon the United Nations (UN) to intervene immediately.
PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi strongly condemned Israel’s attacks and said that bomb attacks on the innocent civilians are an open challenge to all the human rights organisations and therefore, United States and other powers should take a strong action against Israel.
Qureshi stressed that all the countries, including Pakistan, should have their foreign offices convey the sentiments of their nations in this regard and express solidarity with our Palestinian brothers.
He also called upon the Arab League and other organizations of Muslim countries to increase pressure on Israel. Condemning Israel’s air raids, MQM chief Altaf Hussain urged Muslim countries and the human rights groups to raise their voices on the issue. He further said that unlike other politicians he was not afraid to criticise the Israeli’s.
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Munawar Hasan, in a telephonic address from Sudan, called upon the Pakistan government to convene an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council in order to raise the issue. He also advised them to ask for support from the Muslim world, especially Egypt.
Countrywide protests against Israeli aggression: Protests were organised by different political and religious parties in different cities against the Israeli aggression in Palestine. In Lahore, political and religious parties including Sunni Tehreek, Insaf Student Federation and Jamat-e-Islami, staged separate protest rallies against the Israeli aggression.
The speakers said that the US was supporting Israel in its killings of innocent Palestinian Muslims. They said that the massacre will not be allowed.
The activists of Shabab-e-Mili held a protest rally from Lahore Press Club to the US Consulate. On this occasion all routes leading to the US Consulate were closed.
Addressing the rally, Pakistan Shabab-e-Mili President Ateeq-ur-Rehman said that the world powers should pressurise the Zionist lobby to respect international human rights. He said Arab and other Islamic countries should move the international forums to stop Israeli attacks in Palestinian areas. Meanwhile, a protest rally organised by Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen was also held in Multan.
The rally started from Delhi Gate and reached Daulat Gate where participants shouted slogans against Israel and demanded that an emergency meeting of the OIC be summoned and a joint strategy be adopted by Muslim countries against Israel.
