A journalist was gunned down by unidentified men in Washbood area of Panjgur on Saturday afternoon.
Rehmatullah Abid, a local journalist and reporter for Dunya News TV, was at a hair saloon in Washbood Bazaar when he was fired at by unidentified armed motorcyclists, police said.
Abid succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital and his body was handed over to his family after autopsy.
Taking strong notice of the murder, Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani directed the authorities to arrest the killers as soon as possible.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Central President Javed Hashmi also condemned the killing and demanded the government to arrest the culprits and bring them to justice.
Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf took notice of the incident and strongly condemned Abid’s murder. The PM conveyed his sorrow to members of Abid’s family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
He directed the law enforcement agencies to apprehend the culprits involved in this heinous crime and bring them to book.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira also condemned the killing. In a statement on Sunday, he expressed sympathies with the family of the deceased and prayed for his soul.
Spokesman of Bilawal House Aijaz Durrani also expressed strong condemnation of the killing in a statement released on Sunday night.
