Four arrested for stealing BRTS iron

Police arrested four accused involved in stealing iron from the site of the Bus Rapid Transit Service (BRTS) and seized an iron laden mini-truck late on Saturday night. According to details, police personnel stopped a mini-truck loaded with iron at Misri Shah Chowk for questioning. The accused including two employees of Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency (TEPA) tried to escape but police arrested all four culprits. In the preliminary interrogation, the accused revealed that the stolen iron was being used in the BTBS project and they were transporting it to a warehouse in Badamibagh iron market. The detainees identified as Umer, Nadeem, Amjad and Asghar admitted during interrogation that they stole the iron from Shafiqabad and were shifting it to the warehouse to be stored and later sold. Separately, Faisal Town and Gulberg police arrested four robbers and recovered three motorcycles, cell phones, gold ornaments and weapons from their possession. The accused known as Abid alias Billa, Saleem, Usman and Rashid confessed during investigation to have been involved in 34 incidents of robbery and street crimes in the city.
