Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Habibur Rehman said that due to untiring efforts of the police officials, the crime rate in Punjab has decreased by 30 percent while robberies at jewellery shops and banks have been effectively controlled across the province.
He gave this statement while addressing a prize distribution ceremony held at the Central Police Office (CPO) Lahore to reward the Multan police for their outstanding performance. RPO Multan Aamir Zulifqar, SSP (Operations) Gohar Nafees, SP Mansoor Rana and SP CIA Multan Maqbool Ahmed were also present on the occasion besides other officers.
The provincial police chief said that the lists of Top-10 and Top-20 criminals had been prepared while the Punjab Police were searching for 8,000 to 10,000 proclaimed offenders.
The IGP informed that the police had also solved all four terrorism cases reported this year in the province including the terrorism incidents of Babu Sabu interchange, Rasool Park in Lahore, Multan and Gujrat districts by arresting the accused involved in the attacks. The IGP further said that the progress and economic development of any country depended upon its security and law and order situation. Therefore, the police are implementing zero crime policy in the province, he added.
On this occasion, the IGP awarded cash prizes of Rs 795,000 among 28 police officers of Multan region for smashing the terrorists’ network.
