Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday said the next elections will bring about the political death of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) if it did not change its attitude.
Talking to a delegation of the British High Commission, Shahbaz said the federal government had lost the confidence of the masses due to bad governance, corruption and rampant loadshedding. He said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had become the most popular party of the country and would prove successful in the next general elections.
Shahbaz further said that during Musharraf’s rule, Punjab had become the most corrupt province, but the PML-N through its efforts reintroduced the culture of merit and transparency.
Moreover, the chief minister said Pakistan and India had no other option except to promote friendly relations amongst themselves. He said both these countries had fought many wars, and nothing was gained out of it. He also said Pakistan faced many challenges in the energy sector and efforts should be concentrated to address this issue immediately. He further said the British investors could benefit from the fresh investment opportunities available in Punjab as the situation was peaceful here.
