Inferno guts down factory

A factory located in the area of Baghbanpura caught fire on Saturday due to short circuiting of electricity wires.
According to details, the factory located at street number 136/A near the Shalimar Police Station caught fire due to short circuiting of electricity wires, and the raging fire engulfed goods worth millions of rupees.
The owner of the factory named Saleem said that he went to the market to buy goods and saw his burning factory when he returned. He started crying while narrating his ordeal and said that yesterday he had brought goods worth Rs7 million which had turned into ash in the inferno.
In addition, the factory fire also spread over to two nearby houses. Rescue teams reached the spot after the incident but could not control the fire while media persons also reached the area to cover the incident. It was learnt that the local people stopped the media from going near the factory and broke three video cameras belonging to private news channel.
MPA Abdul Qadir also reached the spot after sometime, where he was greeted by harsh comments from the locals who refused to accept his help and claimed that the MPA was there for media coverage only.
The fire was controlled by the fire fighters after a long struggle of several hours.
While talking to media persons, the local people said that the fire truck water tankers got empty after every 10 minutes and took 20 minutes to refill, which caused the fire to go out of control.
20 workers of the factory saved their lives by escaping from the factory when the fire broke out. No loss of life was reported in the incident.
Two workers injured in factory roof collapse

The roof of an iron manufacturing factory collapsed on Saturday in the area of Iron market situated at Peco Road, Badami Bagh. According to a private news channel, the roof of the factory collapsed when a truck accidently hit the building of the factory. Bystanders said that the truck hit the two story building of the factory resulting in the collapse. As a result, two workers named Aslam and Siddique were trapped beneath the debris of the building. Rescue teams reached the spot immediately after receiving a call and managed to free the workers with the help of drill machines after a struggle of two hours. Both the injured workers were shifted to the Nawaz Sharif Hospital where Siddique was stated to be in a critical condition.
