An explosion near the Frontier Corps (FC) Headquarters in Balochistan’s Zhob district killed two FC personnel and injured several others on Friday.
According to security sources, the explosives were packed inside the belongings of two suspects, who were taken into custody near the Pak-Afghan border area and were being shifted to the FC Headquarters in Zhob when the blast occurred.
Two FC personnel died on the spot while several others were injured. An FC vehicle was also completely destroyed in the blast.
However, FC Commandant Talat Masood said it was a suicide bombing.
“A patrolling party of FC stopped a suspected vehicle, but men in the vehicle detonated their explosives,” he said.
Sources said the security forces men intercepted a vehicle coming from Waziristan at a checkpost and found explosives in the vehicle upon a search.
The security men were escorting the seized vehicle when the explosives went off near Zhob FC headquarters, killing both security personnel.
The suspects have been shifted to an undisclosed location for questioning.
