The service road and footpath from Shamsabad to Faizabad are virtually occupied by encroaches and due to the Sixth road flyover project surrounding areas experience traffic jam during most part of the day.
The service road along side Murree Road has lost importance on the account of traffic load in the wake of under construction flyover project.
On the other hand, Tehsil Municipal Administration and traffic police have failed to perform their duties and sort out the problems pertaining to encroachment in different parts of the city.
It should be mentioned here that encroachments is the not only problems of Murree road but wrong parking and encroachment in all parts of Cantt and city areas causing traffic jams and deprive pedestrians to use footpaths.
Rawalpindi Cantonment Board shopping areas, particularly Saddar, has parking allotment in front of plazas but these sites are allegedly used by owners for business purposes.
Citizens demanded Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif to direct district government to purge illegal showrooms on Murree Road, car and motorcycle workshops to ensure smooth flow of the traffic.
