Businessmen to get arms license within two days

Governor Sindh, Dr Ishrat ul Ebad Khan has announced to bear 50 per cent expenses of CCTV cameras and other security equipment to be procured by the traders for surveillance of their markets.
In a meeting with the stakeholders’ representatives led by Tariq Saeed, S M Muneer and Mian Zahid Hussain held on Friday evening at Governor House in order to review decisions and measures taken in the earlier meeting of 25 Oct., the Governor also ordered to issue arms license to the businessmen within two days.
It was decoded that that Commissioner Karachi will issue arms license upon recommendation of FPCCI. He further ordered to exempt businessmen from Section 144 imposed on carrying weapons.
Dr Ishratul Ebad further informed the stakeholders that he has taken President Asif Zardari and MQM’s Quaid Altaf Hussain into confidence on measures adopted to improve the law and order situation of Karachi.
He said that government will provide as many mobile vans to police as required for patrolling and checking on the spot purposes in commercial as well as industrial areas of the city. Governor was told by the business representatives that situation has improved remarkably in the markets after the deployment of police under community policing system. Governor said that community policing system shall be initiated in rest of the markets and industrial areas as early as possible.
On the issue of mobile phone locators, Governor once again ordered their immediate procurement. S M Muneer pointed out in the meeting that cell phone Sims verification should be done on urgent basis, Governor said that Sims used for threats and extortion will be blocked immediately by PTA on the advice of CPLC.
The Governor has instructed the officials concerned to act upon and contact PTA immediately. Governor further said that target killing the most hilarious crime is being controlled by minimizing the differences between the rival groups and culprits involved in target killing would be taken to task.
Similarly measures are being taken to curb kidnapping for ransom cases as police and rangers have been ordered to coordinate with the CPLC to apprehend kidnappers. The leaders of the business community have reposed their confidence on the Governor and appreciated his efforts to restore peaceful environment in the industrial and commercial hub of Pakistan.
The meeting was attended by Shaikh Abdul Waheed Sandal, Haroon Rasheed, Zakaria Usman, Shoukat Ahmed, Zubair Tufail, Haroon Shamsi, Zubair Chhaya, Ateeq Meer, Sharjeel Goplani and Zain Basheer.
