Federal Government Educational Institutions Cantonment and Garrison (FGEI-CG) Director Brigadier Raheel Ashraf on Thursday underlined the importance of physical fitness for psychological enlightenment of students, aimed at grooming the youth.
“Young students must focus upon enlightenment of the mind, coupled with fitness of the body,” he said while addressing a prize distribution ceremony.
The FGEI had organized the annual All Pakistan Sports and Co-curricular Activities under which qiraat, naat, English and Urdu Declamation, fine arts and home economics competitions were held.
Brigadier Ashraf said that 311 institutions run by the FGEI were not only producing literate students with bookish knowledge, but also groomed young minds by providing them purpose and meaning to their lives and providing them a platform to discover their hidden potential.
Participation in these events gives confidence to young people, helping them learn tolerance and sportsmanship, which are helpful in character building, he added.
He appreciated the active participation of colleges from Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar in sports activities, terming the teachers the real agents of change, who discovered diverse people with diverse talents like naat khawans, athletes, singers, speakers and artists.
