Malik urges passage of bill against terrorism

Appealing for passage of Anti Terrorism Bill Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that provincial governments and Prime Minister were taken into confidence prior to decision on imposition of ban on motorcycle riding in Karachi and Quetta.
Speaking on a point of order on the floor of the National Assembly on Friday, Malik said that he appeals to the house that Anti Terrorism act be approved so that criminals who are involved in incidents of terrorism could be punished.
He said that he wants to give a policy statement in the house on the law and order situation so that parliament is apprised of all facts.
Interior Minister said that his step to impose ban on motorcycle riding in Quetta and Karachi under article 148 was not wrong and the decision was taken in view of the intelligence reports. He said that the PM and provincial governments were taken on board in this respect.
He further told the house that motorcycles and mobile SIMS were used in more than 96 bomb blasts in Karachi and over 438 bomb attacks occurred through motorbikes in the country.
Earlier speaking on the point of order Abdul Qadir Baloch and Sheikh Salahuddin said that all state institutions are aware of the challenges facing the country . The Interior Minister must inform that what steps are being taken for the protection of lives and property of the public.
Usman Khan Advocate raised the point that Civil Hospital and Press Club has been closed in for the past one month in Khuzdar. The hospital doctors have either got themselves transferred or are on long leave. The extremists enjoy the backing of state, which needs to be ended.
Meanwhile speaking to media outside the Parliament House he said PML-N leadership has made extreme corruption in Punjab.
He said the public money has been squandered on useless schemes and projects including Sasti Roti‚ Danish Schools and distribution of free laptops.
Malik called upon the Punjab government to stop personal publicity campaign and spend that money for the welfare of the masses of the province.
The Interior Minister said law and order situation in the province has deteriorated rapidly that is evident from the high number of kidnapping for ransom cases and other crimes.
He said Punjab Chief Minister must focus to stop the high rate of crimes in the province.
