Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah told the Sindh Assembly on Thursday that the People’s Party and MQM were not only parties responsible for law and order in Karachi but all parties should take responsibility.
Speaking in the House the chief minister said that all non-computerized arms licences will be cancelled. He said the migration caused by the anti-terrror war was also a factor in worsening law and order in Karachi.
Replying members questions, Qaim Ali Shah said that over two million illegal immigrants are big challenge for the police and the government.
He said the figures provided by police regarding steps taken by police as well as Rangers in Karachi to maintain security were not depressing.
Quoting figures, Shah said that around 2,400 police encounters took place in 2012 and among those who were caught red-handed, 50% of their challans have been submitted to courts. He regretted that each time a challan goes to an anti-terrorism court, the hardened criminals are bailed out within a week.
The chief minister had earlier called a meeting of law enforcers taking action over the worsening law and order situation of Karachi and had expressed disappointment over police performance.
During the provincial assembly session, the chief minister said that some internal and external elements were trying to disturb security as Karachi was an important city.

You better quit you are a sick man and sick people otherwise can't run the government.If you are not responsible please name who is responsible.Do not try to take shelter under Taliban drama it has not worked in the past neither it is going to work now. For God sake take out 15000 police force deployed for the protection of CM cabinet and un authorised influentials of the party,if this is done peace shall return to Karachi.
The CM of the province of Sindh is more loyal than the king. He is now playing a role of MQM spokesman as well. He wouldn't be that naive to know who is the mastermind behind the target killings and extortion. It is none else but MQM. No wonder the dance of death continues unabated as the chief executive of the province is lending them full support and exonerating the thugs of the crimes they are committing.
