Pakistan win another four gold medals in ju-jitsu

Pakistan is expecting to gain another two gold medals in the Punjab International Sports Festival after the male touch ball and fist ball teams qualified for the final here on Monday.
On the day, Pakistan got another four gold medals in ju-jitsu raising the tally to nine and more are likely to come in the coming days while today’s gold in the game raised the tally to seven.
Until there is a major upset in the finals of touchball and fistball, the gold medals count of Pakistan which is now nine would surely reach 11 and with that Pakistan is likely to take the overall trophy.
In Monday’s matches of international touchball, Afghanistan got walkover against Somalia while hosts Pakistan in a dress rehearsal of the coming final beat Sri Lanka 3-1 in the last league match.
Mazhar Iqbal of Pakistan with a score of 2 provided much-needed supremacy while Amjad Waseem supported him with 1 score to get Pakistan a place in the final. On the other hand Ramzan from Sri Lanka scored the only point of the losing side.
Pakistan will now take on Sri Lanka again in the final on November 14 at 3.30 pm at the University of Lahore ground and the event will also mark the closing of the Punjab International Sports Festival.
Meanwhile in the fistball final, Pakistan will clash with Nepal on Tuesday at 3 pm while Punjab will take on Sri Lanka in the third-fourth position match.
In the semi-finals of the event, Pakistan Punjab’s team went down to Nepal 3-2. In a closely-contested match, Pakistan took lead but Nepal levelled the score and then went ahead 1-2. But Pakistan first equalized the score and later Nepal displayed great fight to win the match.
In the second semi-final Pakistan thrashed Sri Lanka 3-0. The home team for the entire proceeding did not let Sri Lanka come into the game and thus Pakistan made it to the final.
Now Pakistan will face Nepal while Sri Lanka and Punjab will play for a position match.
Meanwhile in ju-jitsu, Pakistan won four gold medals in 85, 77, Doo System and mix Doo system. With the addition of four golds on the day and previous three Pakistan won the overall trophy in the game with seven medals. Beginning from 62 kgs weight class, Iran’s Ali Reza was the winner while Pakistan’s AJmal Ali, Mohammed Hadi of Iraq and Hassan Baksh of Afghanistan won the event categorically.
In 85 kgs, Mohammed Zeeshan Butt of Pakistan,Iran’s Waheed,Thailand’s Javed and Saif of Iraq won the title.
In 77 kgs, Ayat ullah of Pakistan,Hassan Hamd of Iraq ,Zong yu of South Korea,Rayyan of Iran won the event.
In Doo system, Pakistan grabbed first position, Pakistan whites achieved second, Iran secured third and South Korea managed fourth position.
In Mix Doo system, Pakistan won first position, Pakistan whites got second, South Korea attained third and Thailand achieved fourth positions.
In the International football match between Yemen and Punjab Whites, the visiting team reached the final to take on Serbia. Yemen outplayed Punjab Whites 5-0. Alex of Yemen masterminded three goals while James Teddy and Saleh Abdul Kareem shared one goal each to show their domination.
In the International Baseball Championship, Nepal beat Afghanistan 17-9. Karishna from Nepal scored 4, Nabin Ale 3, Arjun 3, Isore 2, Ram Paryar, Abhishek, Anil Paryar, Bijay and Nabin scored one each. Afghanistan’s side got its score from Tahir, Nasim, Abdur Rehman and Shair Ahmed scored 1 each while Mohammad Alam got 2 points. The Advisor Sports to Chief Minister Punjab Ejaz Gull was the chief guest on this occasion.
