Full back Irfan banned for six months and fined for indiscipline

The disciplinary committee of the Pakistan Hockey Federation has banned full back Mohammad Irfan for six months and fined him Rs 100,000 for indiscipline of skipping the ongoing national camp for Champions Trophy without any valid reason.
The three-member committee led by Wasey Jalil, heard the point of view of Irfan who appeared before the committee on Monday at national hockey stadium and also submitted his written reply.
“ He committed indiscipline which was in breach of players code of conduct and the committee reached a unanimous decision to punish him for sending a firm message to all the hockey players that no one is above the discipline “,said Wasey while reading out the recommendations of the committee.
“ Irfan will not be playing hockey for six months at any level and a fine of Rs 100,000 has also been imposed on him “,he asserted. He mentioned that the committee also took into consideration the past record of Irfan who is in habit of committing indiscipline on various accounts.
Irfan took a day from the camp from the camp commandant, Akhtar Rasool and reported after two-day giving false justification for his one day absence which was proved after the team management initiated probe at its own.
The team management reported the whole incident to the PHF which forwarded the case of Irfan to its disciplinary committee which also comprised Saeed Khan and Tanzeela Aamir Cheema as its members.
The chairman of the committee said Irfan has the right appeal against the decision within a week time.
Irfan expressed his regret on breach of indiscipline saying “it should not has happened “, “ I feel sorry on the while incident and I assure the PHF and the team management that I will never be involved in any kind of indiscipline in future . “ I accept the decision of the committee but definitely I am going to appeal against it as the six months ban is quite long “,said the player.
Irfan said he believes that President ,PHF Qasim Zia will give a kind consideration to his appeal and will lift the ban from him . “ I want to play hockey and to serve my country and I hope that PHF will give me a chance so that it should prove that I am a much improved person as far discipline is concerned”.
