ECP extends date for submission of declaration regarding dual citizenship

In order to provide last opportunity to the members of Parliament and Provincial Assemblies who have not yet submitted the declaration regarding dual citizenship.
Keeping in view the requests made by some of the Parliamentarians, especially those who have performed Hajj and are on their way to Pakistan, the Election Commission of Pakistan has extended the date upto 30th November, 2012 for submission of aforesaid declaration.
The members of National Assembly and Senate are required to submit their declaration in the Election Commission of Pakistan while members of the Provincial Assemblies are required to submit their declarations in the Office of Provincial Election Commissioner concerned by 30th November, 2012.
For further convenience, the ECP has also decided that the declaration may be got attested from the Oath Commissioner or from any Officer of the Election Commission in Islamabad or Provincial Headquarters. Furthermore, in case of non-availability of the aforesaid officer or the Oath Commissioner, the members may submit the declaration along with a copy of his NIC or Assembly Card to verify the Signature.
So far, out of 1163 members of the Parliament and all the Provincial Assemblies, 1090 members have submitted their affidavits while affidavits of 73 members are yet to be received. Furthermore, among the received 1090 affidavits, some affidavits are not duly attested/signed; therefore, all those members who have filed unattested declarations may also visit the office of the Provincial Election Commissioner concerned or the ECP Secretariat Islamabad for verification of their signatures.
Also, as per decision of the ECP, letters have been sent to all the members who have not submitted their affidavits and it may also be noted that no further extension would be granted in this regard. Furthermore, failure to submit the aforementioned declaration by the said date will entail legal and constitutional consequences.

  1. No wonder Pakistan is in such a mess. Nobody takes anything serious because they know there are no consequenses. They know they will get extensions and there will be no repurcussions. Untill the judiciary, the ecp and all others concerned start taking their jobs seriously this topi drama will continue. Judiciary and ECP are more to blame for the current situation than the politicians.

Just because Imran Khan refuses to acknowledge you as his son does not mean that you have to go after him with such vengence. You should be classified in baboon species.
