Hollywood star Robert Pattinson says his much-appreciated stint in vampire franchise Twilight left him struggling with depression for two years. The 26-year-old actor, who is gearing up for the final installment of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2, said he was saved from spiralling into depression when director David Cronenberg asked him to star in Cosmopolis. “I went through a big time of depression between 23 and 25. I couldn’t go where I wanted to. I was in the tabloids every day and I didn’t have access to the roles I really wanted. I wanted more, on every level,” he says. Pattinson found that while his Twilight co-stars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner were off working on other projects, he was stuck in a rut. “I finally realised that you needed to earn this change I so desperately wanted. That one way or another, you had to suffer to be able to make it. I thought everything was going to be served on a plate but that’s not how it works,” he adds.
