Rawalpindi Traffic Police is corruption free: CTO

City Traffic Officer (CTO) Superintendent Police (SP) Syed Ishtiaq Shah while addressing a function held here to appreciate the outstanding performance of traffic wardens said that the Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (Traffic Wardens) is a corruption free department as there is no corruption case against any traffic warden of the department.
He urged the citizens to strictly observe traffic rules so that traffic related problems of the city could be resolved and every road user could be facilitated. He said, though the performance of traffic wardens was outstanding but they should still perform their duties with more dedication and commitment so that the image of the force could be improved further.
Member National Assembly (MNA) Malik Ibrar, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Capt. (r) Muhammad Zubair, Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Azhar Hameed Khokhar, Rao Iqbal, Rana Shah and a large number of DSPs, inspectors and traffic wardens attended the function.
The CTO while addressing the participants said that this program was part of community policing.
The CTO said that earnest efforts were being made to better the image of the department. He also said that the Motorway Police started its work with a spirit of no tolerance for the violators of law, adding that in 2006 traffic wardens had started its service and only educated and qualified persons were inducted in the force on merit. Traffic wardens had been performing their duties on the city roads with devotion and commitment and within a short span of time the force had also earned a good repute as it was a corruption free force.
The CTO further said that the strength of traffic warden force was 1,400 to 1,450 and all wardens were graduates. As many as 250 traffic wardens were master degree holders and nearly 50 were double master degree holders, he informed.
The RPO, who was the chief guest on this occasion, said such programs should be held as these would help enhance the confidence level of the traffic wardens.
He said that in the history of Pakistan, the Motorway Police was the only department which earned itself a good reputation and great respect in the society due to its hard work, sincere and committed efforts for maintaining the rule of law.
The CPO on this occasion said that the traffic police and crime police were equally important for guarding the rule of law and both forces had been working in collaboration to keep their jurisdictions safe. He said traffic police was playing an important role by regulating heavy traffic load on the roads. He hailed the services of the wardens and said that traffic wardens helped in increasing the credibility of regular police among the masses. He also said that traffic wardens deserved credit for showing outstanding performance.
On this occasion, special shields were presented to outstanding performers of the police force.
