Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Javed Hashmi has called for an independent commission for the accountability of generals and politicians, Geo News reported on Sunday. Talkking to reporters, Hashmi advised President Asif Ali Zardari, PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and their parties to not take part in elections until and unless they got themselves cleared of all allegations levelled againt them. The veteran politician said the upcoming elections would decide the country’s fate and rigging would in no way help strengthen it. Hashmi claimed that he was the lone politician being exonerated by the courts in connection with the Asghar Khan case while names of Navid Qamar, Nisar Ali Khan, Abdul Sattar Lalika and Humayun Akhtar were also included in the case. He demanded an interim government be put in place. The PTI leader said there was no ‘cold war’ between the chief justice of Pakistan and te chief of the army staff.
