Pakistan on Saturday ripped apart Nepal with 15-0 thrashing in Punjab International Sports Festival encounter here on Model Town ground before a big audience.
Pakistan kept Nepal under persistent pressure throughout the play and rocked them with scoring goals one after the other. The home side demonstrated a higher level of skills in the game to enjoy all time supremacy over its rivals in the play and led the game 3-0 at the end of the first innings.
Sumair Zawar was the pick of the home teams players and shone with three scores followed by two each from Asif Mushtaq, Usman Azim, Umair Bhatti , Zubair Nawaz, Zaheer Bashir as Ahsan Baig and shared one score apiece to dump their ever struggling opponents.
Secretary, Pakistan Baseball Federation, Syed Khawar Shah was the chief guest on the occasion and he was introduced with both the teams before the start of the play.
In the rugby match between Pakistan 15 a side and the World 15, the home side went down fighting with the visiting team beating the Pakistan side 22-19.
In international football Yemen hardly defeated Mongolia 1-0 as both the teams played an empty first half at Punjab stadium. Defensive tactics and longtime ball possession confined the game to the mid field most of the play.
The match between two equally balanced teams failed to produce and sparkle or dazzling moves by either side for the disappointment a handful crowd.
The second half produced some quality play as Yemen went all out to hunt a goal and their desperate efforts bore early in the half in 61st minute when Akram Ali showcased his talent with a swift shot which beat the onrushing goalkeeper.
In international Ju jitsu Pakistan ended the day with two victories to maintain its fine run in the event.Asim Moeen and Mohammad Ali led their country to success in their respective bouts by exhibiting finer points of the game superior technique.
Asim Moeen of Pakistan beat So sang Boem of South Korea, Yang Hyengju defeated Ajbekov of Kyrgyztan. Yasan Ali Nabizo of Iran outplayed Siaf Khuder of Iraq and Mohammed Ali of Pakistan beat Husain Mohammed of Iraq.
In international kabaddi, two matches were decided in which Pakistan (Punjab) and India fashioned out victories against their respective rivals. Pakistan Punjab defeated Afghanistan 73-40. The winning teams main point getters were Imtiaz Alam, M .Ashfaq, Khalid Bhatti, Akmal Dogar, Waqas Butt, Rana Naeem, Mohsin Naseer, Mansha, Neeem Jutt, Asif Mola, Waqas Gujjar, Arslan Aslam Dogar and Saifullah.
In the second match: India beat Nepal 47-20.Pakistan Punjab defeated Afghanistan 73-40. The Indian teams main scorers were: Sukhveer Singh,Gorlal Singh,Sukhder Singh, Lakhwinder Singh, Gagnandeep Singh, Malvinder Singh, Harjinder Singh, Guwinder Singh, Gurjeet Singh, Balraj Singh, Yadwinder Singh, Vilveer Singh, Gurjeet Singh and Balram Singh.
Festival marathon
postponed; Indo-Pak Kabaddi final today: The 17.5 kilometres marathon of the Punjab National Sports Festival and the 3-kilometre have been postponed and is being rescheduled.
The events were postponed due to the Raiwind ijtima and the preoccupation in the conduct of the Punjab International Sports Festival events. The fresh date and time of marathon and fun race will be announced shortly.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan and Indian Punjab teams will lock horns in the final of Kabaddi on Sunday. The final will be held at 6 pm at the Punjab Stadium and entry to the stadium is open for general public.
Pakistan sweep Deaf and Dump Dosti Cup: With a rousing display of skills and talent Pakistani deaf teams outshone their Indian opponents to win the cricket, table tennis, badminton and chess titles of the Deaf and Dump Dosti Cup of the Punjab international sports festival here on Saturday at different venues.
Pakistan special cricketers outplayed India by 29 runs in the last match to make a clean sweep in a three match series at Iqbal park sports complex ground. Pakistan won the opening match by 29 runs followed by 40 runs success in the following match.
In the third match reduced to 12-overs-a side, Pakistani side elected to bat after winning the toss posted 124 runs for the loss of two wickets in allotted number of overs, thanks to brilliant batting display by Kashif 43 notout and Shfqat who was the second highest scorer with 42 runs.
Indian medium pacer Tirth got one wicket for 21 runs as Sandeep took one wicket for 19 runs.
In reply Indian side was restricted to 95 for 5 in 12 overs as man of the match pace bowler Mohammad Umer ripped apart their inning with deadly bowling finishing with foru for 11 runs in just two overs Home captain and spinner Iqbal got one wicket for 10 runs.
In table tennis Pak deaf players swept the Indian side winning the title 3-0 winning their both the singles and double tie . However in the badminton , the Indian players offered little resistance before home team overcome them 2-1, taking one single and one double match before losing their reverse single encounter.
Deaf players continued to win laurels for their country , winning the chess title 2-1 .
Sports festival football event: The national sports festival also continued on the sidelines of the international festival and the football event reached to final stage here on Saturday at Punjab stadium.
Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa and Balochistan will meet in tomorrow, Sunday’s final after winning their respective matches. In the first semi-final: KPK beat Punjab 2-0. Gulfraz and Rafique were the scorers from winners in a one sided affair. In the second semi-final, Baluchistan defeated Fata 2-1. Mohammad, Hussain and Aminullah from Baluchistan scored one goal each. FATA received their only goal from Suleiman.
In a classification match for the third position, Punjab scored a narrow Fata 3-2. Zainul Islam, Imran and Abdullilah produced one goal each while Nawab Gull and Usman were the scorers from FATA.
