The US Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Teacher Education Project awarded 155 scholarships to students enrolled in two-year associate degree in education (ADE) and four-year bachelor’s degree in education programs in Sindh. Together with other projects to rebuild flood-damaged schools and other education initiatives, supporting Pakistan’s goal to have qualified teachers is a significant investment in Pakistan’s future. It will lead to work opportunity for the newly trained teachers, better education for students and raise Pakistan’s global competitiveness. Speaking at the award ceremony, Ms Jo Lesser-Oltheten, Director, Education Office (USAID), stated that “Our shared vision is to design programs that will prepare teachers who can inform, instruct, and inspire future generations.
