The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday adjourned hearing of a contempt petition against Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for disobeying court orders in Gulberg Doongi Ground case till November 20. The court also sought record of the Gulberg Doongi Ground case from the Registrar Office. Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh heard the petition filed by Ahmad Imran Ghazi through his counsel Muhammad Azhar Siddique. The petitioner, in his petition, submitted that the LHC in September 2011 ordered the Punjab government to restore the Doongi Ground park after removing all construction work from there. STAFF REPORT
The court also ordered to take action against the officers who allowed the construction work at the park, he said.
He contended that despite the court orders, the construction was neither removed nor any action was taken against the officers involved which was contempt of court.
He also claimed that the chief minister also approved construction of a library on all 39 kanal area of Doongi
Ground in violation of court orders.
He asked the court to initiate contempt proceedings against Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and others.
