Strict security measures to be taken during Moharram: Malik

Interior Minister Rehman Malik says foolproof security measures will be taken to avoid any untoward incident during Moharram-ul-Haraam.
Talking to the media persons in Islamabad on Thursday after chairing a meeting on law and order situation‚ he said we have received threats of terrorism during Moharram and steps will be taken to tackle them.
He said helicopters and CCTV cameras will be used for surveillance of Moharram processions. Besides additional contingent of police will be deployed outside mosques and Imambargahs.
Responding to a question‚ Rehman Malik said some elements want to provoke sectarianism but the people should stand united to foil their evil designs.
To a question‚ the interior minister said that sale of SIMs will be stopped from shops from the first of next month. These would dispatched by the respective mobile phone companies to the addresses given on the National Identity Cards. He asked the people to get their SIMs registered by 30th of this month. He also asked the mobile companies to open up new offices for verification of the SIMs.
About Malala Yousufzai incident‚ Rehman Malik said the handler of the attack has been identified and we are close to nab the perpetrators.
