Regional anti-narcotics conference to be held in Islamabad

Pakistan will host two-day Regional anti-narcotics Ministerial level conference in Islamabad on Monday.
Foreign Office spokesman Moazzam Ahmed Khan in his weekly briefing in Islamabad Thursday said the conference is basically an initiative of President Asif Ali Zardari and he will inaugurate it.
He said the purpose of conference is to control production and usage of drugs in the region.
Spokesman said conference will be attended among others by Afghanistan‚ Iran‚ China‚ Kazakistan‚ Russia and Uzbekistan.
He said Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar is undertaking a visit to Bangladesh tomorrow as a special envoy of President Asif Ali Zardari to invite Prime Minister of Bangladesh to attend D-8 Summit scheduled to be held on the 22nd of this month in Islamabad.
To a question about the China Pakistan strategic partnership‚ the Spokesman said that China is Pakistan’s best friend.
To another question about the re-election of President Obama and the drone attacks in Pakistan‚ the Spokesman said terrorism is of mutual concern.
He said Pakistan has its concern on the drone attacks. He said issue requires mutually acceptable solution.
Spokesman said we are looking forward working with new Obama administration.
About the presence of Molvi Fazlullah in Afghanistan‚ Spokesman said there has been some response from that country on the issue.
About the President’s recent visit to Qatar‚ the Spokesman said the leadership of the countries agreed to work out the modalities on fast tract basis for import of LNG by Pakistan.
