PTI condemns killing of Geo employee shot dead by Rangers

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) condemned the killing of GEO television production coordinator creative Department of Faraz Haider, at Liaqatabad Bridge.
Faraz was hit by a bullet fired by Sindh Rangers. The killing was termed an accident and in a joint statement, PTI’s chairman Imran Khan, Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Secretary General Dr. Arif Alvi, President Javed Hashmi and Information Secretary Shafqat Mahmood expressed condolences to Faraz’s family, friends and colleagues. A press release of the party stated that “PTI expresses concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Karachi which has not been controlled over the past few months. These incidents create a sense of fear that affects all media professionals in Pakistan and is felt most poignantly by those working in the conflict zones. All efforts should be made on priority basis to ensure the safety of media persons in Pakistan”.
Imran Khan said that law enforcement agencies had failed in preventing violence and damage to both public and private property in Karachi and as a result, economic activity in the city had come to a halt. Khan appealed for restoration of peace in the financial hub of the country. He said that “acts of violence would only cause further damage to the public and is not a solution to the underlined problem and PTI stands for peaceful political coexistence of all political and democratic stake holders in the country and appeals to the different parties to shun politics of violence and maintain the balance of peace and harmony in the city”.
‘Mines for foreign and local private bidders’: Sindh Minister for Mines and Minerals, Manzoor Hussain Wasan said that Sindh Goverment had leased 150,000 acres of land to 1200private parties to exploit Thar Coal and said that huge reserves of gold, copper and iron were also explored in the province.
The minister was chairing a meeting of the officials of the Sindh Mines and Minerals department at his residence. He told officials of his ministry to draft attractive proposals to lure foreign investment in the sector. Wasan said that he was personally monitoring the progress regarding correction of ownerships rights of the leased of plots.
