Six, including two Shias, killed

At least six persons including a Rangers official and two members of Jafferia Alliance were killed and several others were injured in fresh spate of target killings in different localities of the city on Tuesday. According to police, unidentified armed motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire at a car killing two persons on the spot.
General Secretary Jafferia Alliance, Syed Shabeer Zaidi, said the deceased identified as Aagha Aftab Haider Jafferi and Mirza Shahid Ali Khan were important figures of the alliance.
Meanwhile, police recovered three limb tied bodies enclosed in gunny bags under Karimabad Bridge. Police said that the deceased were kidnapped and later gunned down after brutal torture and their bodies were dumped in the said locality.
The law enforcement agencies on a tip off regarding presence of notorious criminals conducted a raid in Pehlawan Goth area of Gulistan-e-Johar. During operation, the criminals offered strong resistance and started firing at (LEA) personnel killing a Rangers official and injuring another. The Rangers arrested an accused in injured condition.
The Rangers also conducted raid at a seminary of Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jammat, Jammiya Ashraful Madaras but no arrest was made. The religious organization has strongly condemned the Rangers action.
Meanwhile, firing incidents continued in different areas of Karachi during which nine persons were reported injured. The injured were shifted to different hospitals of concerned areas.
The police and Rangers during separate actions arrested six accused involved in various crimes and recovered arms and other valuables from their possession. The citizens have expressed grave concern over the unabated violence in the city claiming precious lives. They were of the view that Karachi city was industrial hub providing livelihood to millions of people from different areas of the city including Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
Nine killed in 4 days : Target killing in Hyderabad has claimed nine lives in the past four days and the local administration seems hapless to control the law and order in the area.
Security sources said it seemed the miscreants had shifted their agents from Karachi to Hyderabad to destabilize the second big city in the province.
According to sources, unknown gunmen opened fire at a restaurant Tuesday that killed Abdul Rehman. Police claimed that the incident was target killing. Witnesses told that the people tried to apprehend the culprits but they managed to flee.
It is pertinent to mention that two members of Bohri community, Shabbir Ali and Ghulam Murtaza, were killed on Saturday evening while MQM leader Jalil-ur-Rehman was also targeted and shot dead. The toll now stands at nine in the past four days.

Bomb defused near Mazar-e-Quaid

A possible terrorism bid was averted on Tuesday when a remote-controlled bomb was defused near Mazar-e-Quaid. Officials said the bomb disposal squad was promptly called by police after people informed police helpline (15) about a suspicious parcel near Mazar-e-Quaid. The explosive material was defused within half an hour, one of the BDS members said, adding that five kilogram explosive was concealed in a packet and connected with remote-control. He said the bomb contained ball bearings. Heavy police contingents arrived at the site and cordoned off the area, evacuating citizens from the mausoleum as the bomb recovery caused panic among area people. Earlier, Majlis-e-Wahdat Muslimeen leader Allama Aftab Haider was shot dead along with his associate in Saddar area near Parking Plaza. His vehicle was fired upon by unknown bike riders.
