Farrukh Amil, Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to Japan visited Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) to discuss avenues and opportunities for enhancing economic and bilateral relations between Pakistan and Japan.
The Ambassador said that Private sector of both countries should come forward and play their vital role for enhancing trade and economic relations between two countries as level of overall trade between the two countries is much less than the desired potential.
Farrukh Amil said that Pakistan has great potential for the export of fruits and vegetables in the Japanese markets and stressed that packaging and presentation should be improved as quality and presentation is most choice of the Japanese at the time of purchase. He said this will promote the marketing of these products thus enhancing exports of Pakistani goods in the Japanese markets. He suggested for value addition to Pakistani products to fetch more foreign exchange for the country. Though Japan is helping Pakistan in the economic and social sectors but, he will motivate the Japanese entrepreneurs to invest in mega projects also, he added.
The Ambassador designate assured that, he would do at his best for the business promotion and asked the President FCCI to keep him forwarding feedback in this context and he will himself approach to the industries and businesses there. He was of the opinion that a delegation from FCCI be organized in the future and he would feel privileged to make the visit of the delegation truly productive and beneficial to them in the best interest of the country.
In his welcome address, Mian Zahid Aslam, President, FCCI said that Pakistan-Japan trade relations could be enhanced and strengthened through joint ventures, technology transfer, and investment cooperation.
He appreciated the vision and foresight of the Ambassador for his visits to various Chambers of Commerce before departure to Tokyo.
