ASP, four others killed in Peshawar blast

A blast targeting the vehicle of Assistant Superintendent Police (ASP) Investigations, Hilal Haider, in Qissa Khawani Bazar area of Peshawar killed five people, including ASP and his bodyguards, and injured 25 others on Wednesday.
SP City Asif Iqbal while talking to media persons at the site of the attack said that a suicide bomber struck the vehicle of ASP Hilal Haider adding that six to seven kilograms of explosives was used in the blast.
The ASP had left his residence and was en route to his office when the suicide bomber, who was on foot, struck the vehicle.
Rescue and security teams reached the site of attack near the Khan Razik Police station.
All injured were shifted to the Lady reading Hospital.
According to the hospital’s spokesperson 25 injured persons had been received at the hospital.
Security forces cordoned off the area as investigations into the incident went underway.
