Extracurricular activities must for literacy: Sharmila

Sindh Chief Minister’s Special Assistant on Media, Sharmila Faruqui presided over a prize distribution ceremony at Karachi Gymkhana and said that programmes conducted to enhance creative faculties of the children were praise worthy as they motivate children to become good citizens of the comity of nations.
Sharmila distributed prizes amongst children aged 7-11 who secured distinction in the essay writing and Art competitions organized by the club. She said that extra curriculum activities were essential for a child’s development as they inculcate healthy competition amongst children.
She said that “without proper education no society can progress. All stakeholders should work together in order to nourish the children of Pakistan as healthy and productive citizens of the world and the democratic government is busy fulfilling the dream of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto”. She said that one of the five E’s for which BB always stood for was education. She concluded that that literacy would eradicate divisions and animosities from the social milieu of the country.
