Young doctors from all the government hospitals of Punjab province will stage long march today (Tuesday) to press for their long standing demand for approval of service structure by the government.
This long march will comprise two caravans of doctors that will start from Rahim Yar Khan and Rawalpindi. Doctors from all the government hospitals of Punjab will stage sit-in front of Chief Minister’s House on November 07.
The long march is being backed by political parties as well.
Dr Aamir Bandisha said long march would be a full show of power by the doctors to seek service structure. She said that observing a strike in the hospital wards is optional, and will only be implemented if the police resort to violent means to stop the protestors.
Press secretary of Young Doctors Association (YDA) Dr Mudassar Razzaq said the patients would not suffer due to this long march as work would continue in emergency and indoors. Only doctors working in outdoors will participate in this long march, he stated.
YDA president slammed Punjab government for not approving their service structure. He said that the officers of Punjab government, MNAs and MPAs will be treated in general wards without any protocol.
