Punjab Home Department issued directives to the police special branch, security branch and respective police stations to compile particulars of persons affiliated with religious parties.
These instructions had been issued by the home department in the pursuance of directives by the federal Interior Ministry.
A circular issued to the Punjab police stated that complete bio data and antecedents of members of the business community and government employees who were affiliated with religious organizations and defunct religious outfits were to be collected and sent to the Central Police Office.
Sources revealed that Punjab Central Police Office had issued necessary orders to all regional police officers on this account.
