The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is looking for two senior Afghan intelligence agents who have gone missing in Washington. CBS News identified the intelligence agents as Major Mohd Farooq Ghanizada, the chief of the Counterterrorism and Organized Crime Section and Captain Alibaba Ghashee, the deputy chief of the American and European Department. Both missing officers work for Afghanistan’s intelligence service, known as the National Security Directorate. Their whereabouts have been unknown since October 25. Ghanizada and Khashee had travelled to Washington to receive elite executive training at the George C Marshall Centre for Advanced Security Studies in a programme jointly run by the US and German governments. A law enforcement official held out the possibility that the missing officers’ intended to stay in the US or head to Canada to seek asylum.
