17 killed in Chitral, Kallar Kahar road accidents

At least 17 people were killed in tragic road accidents in Chitral and Kallar Kahar late on Saturday and Sunday. At least eight people were killed and four injured when an ill-fated jeep fell into a deep ravine in Chitral late on Saturday night. According to details, an overloaded jeep with 13 people onboard was heading towards Chitral from Yarkhon area when the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp turn, forcing the jeep into a deep gorge in Mero area. As a result of accident, four people were killed on the spot and nine others sustained wounds. Local volunteers and rescue personnel rushed to the scene and retrieved bodies and the injured people. Four more succumbed to their wounds during rescue operation, while four were in a critical condition at District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital. Later, two more people died in a road accident while shifting bodies of victims of the accident. According to Dir police, the body of a victim was being carried to his home in Mohmand Agency when the vehicle plunged into a deep ravine near Lowari Top.
