The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has warned CNG station owners of show-cause notices and cancelation of licences if government orders of selling the fuel at reduced rates were abided by.
“We will issue show-cause notices against owners of CNG stations who had halted the sale despite clear instructions,” OGRA chairman Saeed Ahmed Khan told SAMAA, adding that licences of filling stations’ owners could also be cancelled in case of violation of the government directive.
The OGRA and retailers have lock horns following an unexpected reduction in retail price of CNG by over Rs30 per kg on Supreme Court order.
OGRA has asked all owners of CNG stations to continue selling the gas at reduced rates, but the association’s body defied the directives.
Saeed Ahmed said gas companies have been directed to form inspection teams to visit filing stations, especially in Punjab.
Filling stations in Punjab, Balochistan and KP remained closed on Sunday as people suffered due to unavailability of fuel gas and long queues outside filling stations.
