On the other hand, political personalities are targeting the police officers, busy in war with terrorists, and are using pressure tactics to make them fail.
According to details, some 8,000 people have been killed in the city during the tenure of current government since 2008. Karachi has faced 22 waves of targeted killings in this era.
More than 2,000 citizens have lost their lives in the incidents of targeted killings including 74 security personnel.
Karachi police worked hard to control the situation of law and order in the city and arrested over than 1,000 targeted killers belonging to banned outfits and different political parties.
The police also lost its 294 personnel in war against the terrorism in the city while hundreds received bullet injuries. Security agencies also faced suicide attacks in reaction.
Some high police officials including SSP Faayaz Khan, SSP Ch Aslam, SSP Farooq Awan, DSP Israr Awan and many others survived in the suicide attacks. Fortunately, SSP Fayyaz Khan and DSP Israr survived twice and thrice respectively in attempts of terrorists.
The Central Investigation Department (CID) of Karachi also arrested dozens of target killers belonging to the ruling party and its allies. Such type of actions of Karachi police made the government and its allies unhappy.
Now for the upcoming elections, political parties are drawing their strategies and want to appoint their blue-eyed in their constituencies and posts. Karachi police is also main target of the parties.
The government and its allies want complete control of the police department and are using pressure tactics to make appointments on the basis of favoritism. Problems and hurdles are being faced by the police officers who are not fulfilling the illegal demands of the government functionaries and they are being transferred and suspended.
Some of the MNAs and MPAs of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) are drawing their filthy plans to win their areas in coming elections. For this purpose, they are also supporting criminal groups in the city.
The MNAs and MPAs want to use the police department as a puppet and they are pressurizing the police officials for the release of their blue-eyed criminals.
The member of Pakistan People’s Party, Faisal Raza Abidi and Qadir Petal, are the main part of the dirty game and want control over the police department. Petal is considering himself as next home minister, said sources.
The police officers, not fulfilling the illegal demands of the influential ones, are being targeted in forms of transfers and suspensions.
During the last two weeks, Qadir Petal asked the CID officers for his personnel support and to fulfill his unlawful stipulates. On refusal, the government of the Sindh transferred them to interior parts of the province.
More than 25 police officers and personnel including officers who performed actively in war against terror and are on the target of criminals, have been transferred or suspended.
The behavior of politicians is damaging the performance of the security agencies and providing free hand to the criminals in the city. The officers in the police department are feeling insecure and don’t want to get involved in any controversy.
Crime rate in the city has reached its maximum point but the government is taking interest only in drawing dirty sketches to win next elections.
