Residents of Baghbanpura staged a protest on Thursday against SHO Shalimar Naveed Azam for registering a false case.
A number of people participated in the protest held in front of the Lahore Press Club.
They were carrying banners and placards inscribed with different slogans against the SHO.
The protesters complained that SIS Iqbal, Riaz and ASI Abdul Razaq had registered a false case of drugs against constable Salamat Ali on the directions of SHO Shalimar. Because of this, the constable was sent to jail and the SHO revoked his position. An inquiry was held by a police officer, Sharaq Kamal, in which he declared him innocent.
The protesters also alleged that the Shalimar police conducted a raid on the house of the constable and took away valuables, including 12 tola gold ornaments and Rs 170,000 in cash.
They demanded the CCPO Lahore to restore the constable and to take action against the SHO Shalimar, SIS and ASI.
