The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Jamiat Ulema Pakistan-Niazi group (JUP-N) joined hands ahead of the upcoming general elections. The electoral agreement was reached and finalised at a meeting of a JUP-N delegation, led by its president Pir Masoom Hussain Naqvi, with PPP Punjab President and Federal Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo, at his residence on Friday. Sources in the PPP said the electoral agreement had materialised during the third round of discussion between the two parties. A two-member committee, comprising Dr Amjad Hussain (JUP-N) and PPP Punjab General Secretary Tanvir Ashraf Kaira had been formed to finalise a future strategy in this regard.
