An 18-year-old girl died allegedly of dengue fever in Jinnah Hospital on Friday.
Khwaja Salman Rafique, special assistant to the chief minister on health, ordered an enquiry into the incident. However, Jinnah Hospital CEO Professor Mehmood Shaukat said that the patient had bone marrow depression and had also been diagnosed with hepatitis C which became the cause of her death. “The girl’s tests were going as per schedule. Her death, although unfortunate, was neither due to dengue nor negligence,” he added.
