Sindh government sees politics involved as the traders and industrialists have vowed to protest tooth and nail against the ever-increasing incidents of crime in the violence-hit metropolis.
The Sindh chief minister has formed a body – special committee for reconciliation – under the chairmanship of Najmi Alam, PPP’s Karachi division general secretary, to address the grievances of business community led by Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI). Thursday saw Alam visiting the KCCI and vowing to find a political solution to the longstanding menace of poor law and order situation in this deeply politicised metropolis.
Having resolved to meet all of the city’s politico-religious parties and other stakeholders, the committee chief advised the businessmen to refrain from involving political figures while seeking resolution to their mutual disputes of business character.
Alam said his party leadership had issued instructions to check and fix the anti-social elements or any of the party workers using PPP’s name in unlawful activity. He also called upon the traders and industrialists to inform his side if they had any information relating to complaints of such kind.
Earlier, KCCI President Muhammad Haroon Agar urged the representative of the provincial government to accord top priority to control law and order situation in the violence-hit city.
The KCCI chief put special emphasis on taking “practical” security measures to improve law and order situation in the city’s old city area and all industrial zones.
Agar said this while exchanging views with Najmi Alam, PPP’s Karachi division general secretary who is also the chairman of Special Committee for Reconciliation formed by the chief minister during his visit to KCCI.
The KCCI president apprised Alam about the growing concern and apprehensions of the business and industrial community of the city.
