Speaking on the occasion, Akhtar Rasool thanked Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif for taking special interest in developing a new hockey venue, which has all the major facilities a sports venue requires.
Among the guests apart from government and other officials around 13 Olympians would also grace the occasion.
It is a very good step taken by the Punjab government to built this stadium and promote the sport of hockey at the grass roots. These kind of stadiums should be added to all the major cities of the country and through this provide greater opportunity for the youngsters to learn the art of play. Punjab government should also look into turning the most popular hockey venue of Lahore University ground and do some planning to lay out an artificial turf so the main areas of inner city can get access to play hockey according to the new standards of the game. Great work.
