Pawney 14 to go on nationwide tour

Anwar Maqsood,whose illustrious 45-year career in writing for TV has penned for the first time for for theatre the smash-hit ‘Pawnay 14 August’. This play was presented to the audience of Karachi in March 2012, and become an overnight runaway success. The play ran 28 live performances to a packed house, every day.
Karachi continued the demand for more shows. However, the production team decided to take “Pawnay 14 August” on its Nationwide Tour beginning with Lahore (4th July to 17th July, 2012) at the Al-Hamrah Arts Council and then Islamabad (October 10th to October 22rd, 2012) at the PNCA Auditorium. After a successful round, Pawnay 14 August is hitting the stage in Karachi once again from 30thOctober to 14th November, 2012 at the Arts Council. ‘Pawnay 14 August’ is a thought provoking story of what Pakistan was perceived as and what Pakistan has become today. Revolving around the three principal characters: Quaid-i-Azam, Allama Iqbal and MaulanaShaukatAli,whohave come to see today’s Pakistan. Filled with questions and curiosity, the story is replete with a variety of characters representing Pakistan’s society from Politics, Business, Military, Film World, etc. The setting is at the Karachi Airport where each passenger is a storyteller. This production features some of the finest theatre actors from Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi. This play is directed and produced by Dawar Mehmood, the CEO of KOPYKATS Productions.
