Over 96,000 throng Zoo during Eid days

Lahore Zoo, the ever popular point for families, earned Rs 1.2 million from 96,000 visitors during the four holidays of Eidul Azha. “The revenue was 18 per cent more than the previous year”, said Director Lahore Zoo Shafqat Ali while talking the media.  He highlighted that for the first time an ambulance with paramedical staff along with life saving drugs was also stationed at the zoo to counter any untoward incident.  Shafaqat said that Wildlife guides were also present near the cages and other points to provide necessary information to visitors about the animals, their habits, average life span etc. ”Indian tigers, African lions and monkeys of various species were the main attraction for all visitors, especially for children. People of all ages enjoyed the activities of monkeys, he explained. He added that leaflets and stickers about the historic Lahore Zoo and wildlife housed by it were distributed free among the visitors. The facility of video film was also available to visitors. He said that the canteen and cafeteria contractors were strictly warned to serve hygienic food to visitors and charge for fixed rates agreed upon in the contract.
