Israrul Haq becomes SCBA president

The election results of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) were announced on Wednesday, with Mian Israrul Haq winning the office of the president. Haq took lead from Lahore and Multan, while his rival Ahmed Owais took lead in Karachi, Hyderabad and Bahawalpur. The main contenders included Haq, backed by former SCBA president Asma Jahangir, and Ahmed Owais, who was backed by Hamid Khan. Meanwhile, Raja Javed Iqbal from Lahore has been elected as the SCBA secretary. He took 474 votes against 434 votes of his contender Sohail Dar. From four provinces, one vice president, one secretary, one finance secretary will be elected for each province, besides 16 members of the executive committee.
