Many parts of the city faced severe gas load shedding on Wednesday.
The situation in the area has worsened over the year, so much so that the residents of the area have resorted to purchasing LPG cylinders, Pakistan Today has learned. The gas load shedding schedule is not fixed and occurs any time for one to three hours.
One resident of Walton area complained, “the government has made our lives miserable. We have visited Sui gas offices to lodge our complaints several times but nothing has changed.”
Another resident of Islam Nagar, Usman said that, “LPG gas is very expensive, and there is no Sui gas to purchase. What are we do? The government should make alternate arrangements if they are taking away gas for some many hours. One resident of Gulshan Ravi complained about the unfairness of load shedding, saying, “we are paying bills for gas that is never there, and these bills keep increasing without us getting only more misery.” One workshop mechanic reckoned Lahore’s gas load shedding issues to the Stone Age. “We have literally resorted to burning wood for warmth and for cooking, and even wood does not come cheap,” he said.
An official from Sui Nothern Gas Company, on condition of anonymity said, “we are doing our best to maintain regular gas supply. The company is rebuilding 12 inches of one old pipeline that is causing the disruption.”
