Conference on Dengue in Lahore to acknowledge services of experts, govt departments

Punjab Government will organize two-day international conference on dengue in Lahore on November 10th and 11th to acknowledge the tireless efforts of the government departments, enthusiastic participation by the people and the civil society.
Close cooperation and assistance of international experts for controlling dengue menace in a short span of time, the two-day conference will also be attended by the renowned medical experts and entomologists from abroad.
In this connection, a high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab on Health, Kh. Salman Rafique, to review the arrangements of the conference. Besides public representatives from Lahore, secretaries, special secretaries and senior officers of various government departments, including Health, Education, Information & Culture, Rescue 1122, Police, and Local Government, as well as Commissioner and DCO Lahore, also attended the meeting.
It was informed that the international experts were astonished over the historic achievement of controlling worst ever dengue epidemic in a very short span of time by the Punjab government, under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, with the active participation of general public and government departments.
Kh. Salman Rafique said that international experts are coming Lahore to admire and acknowledge the efforts of Chief Minister Punjab. These experts are from Sri Lanka, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and other counties.
The main function and the inaugural session of two-day conference will be held on 10th November, at Awan-e-Iqbal, in which Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, will be the chief guest. The public representatives, officers and officials of various government departments, members of civil society, media and other segments of the society, who had worked day and night for controlling dengue epidemic, have been invited to attend this function. Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif will distribute prizes and shields among the participants displaying outstanding performance for their encouragement.
Kh. Salman Rafique said that Punjab government has achieved a tremendous success against the dengue by the grace of Allah Almighty, for which government departments had worked hard while people fully supported and cooperated in these efforts. He said that this success would be celebrated with the people of Punjab.
