Minister Education Punjab Mujtaba Shuja-ur Rehman on Tuesday said the government has recruited 70,000 teachers in a transparent manner and that education has remained the top priority of the provincial government throughout its tenure.
According to a hand out, he said that the government has taken an initiative in the field of education during last four years. The minister appreciated the role of private institutions in promoting education. He said that Punjab government has spent Rs 19 billion during last four years to provide missing facilities in 8749 schools of the province.
He further said that another Rs 5 billion would be spent during the current fiscal year to provide missing facilities in 2000 schools
The education minister added that an Rs 1 billion stipend is being distributed among female students belonging to remote, underdeveloped areas to encourage female education.
Moreover, he said that Punjab government has distributed 60,000 education vouchers among the deserving students to enable them complete their education in their favourite school.
